The village of Santo Stefano di Sessanio is famous for the pilot project on the widespread hotel, known and replicated all over the world.
Now the administration has launched a market survey to combat depopulation and give the country a new demographic boost.
This survey is aimed at knowing the interest in granting benefits to Italian and foreign citizens who intend to transfer their residence and start an entrepreneurial activity in the Municipality.
To whom the project is addressed
The project is aimed at Italian, European and non-European citizens in possession of a long-term residence permit, not already resident in the municipal territory between the ages of 18 and 40.
Obligations of new citizens
These citizens are required to maintain their residence in the municipality of Santo Stefano di Sessanio for a minimum period of five years.
In addition, new residents will have to commit themselves to opening a business in the municipality itself.
The administration has identified the following activities as a priority:
a) Tour, sports/cultural guide
b) Tourist informant
c) Cleaner
d) Generic maintainer
c) Drugtore shop operator
(f) Recovery of typical local agri-food production and its marketing
How the project works
The project includes:
- the granting of a monthly grant for three years up to a maximum of EUR 8000.00 per year,
- the provision of a dwelling to a symbolic rent,
- a grant of up to €20,000.00, one-off, for the start-up of the business.
It is interesting to note that, in order to do damage to other countries in a situation of abandonment, would-be inhabitants must not come from municipalities that as of January 1, 2020 had fewer than 2000 residents.
