The small alpine village of Oyace participates in the 1 Euro Houses Project.
The mayor Stefania Clos is eager to repopulate her mountain village, where 200 people currently reside. To show this need, where there are several abandoned and disused buildings. The town is located just under 1,400 meters above sea level in the Valpelline, about 20 minutes by car from Aosta. Oyace is surrounded by green woods and idyllic pastures.
The objective of the project, the first of its kind in the Aosta Valley, is the recovery of abandoned buildings. They want to attract both business and residents, favoring the housing settlement of families, tourist accommodation businesses, shops, and craft shops.
From Roman times, the town of Oyace has its main economic resource in the breeding of livestock and excellent production of Fontina DOP. The Fontina DOP cheese is a product of excellence in the Aosta Valley and the basis of local gastronomy. On a tourist level, Oyace presents itself as an ideal destination for those looking for a holiday in contact with nature. There are several paths that lead trekking lovers to pass at the foot of the highest massifs in Europe.

The 1 Euro Houses Project in Oyace
The 1 Euro Houses Project in Oyace was born recently and therefore the mayor awaits the availability of houses. What they need is a show of interest from the owners, to then put the houses on sale for 1 euro.
With this initiative, the Administration intends to initiate the reorganization and enhancement of the existing real estate assets. This in part consists of dilapidated buildings in the historic centers and the hamlets, which are in conditions of abandonment and degradation. At the same time, they want to maintain their role as intermediaries between the seller and the buyer. It collects expressions of interest and draws up a special ranking according to the guidelines dictated by its regulations.

The first call for properties available at 1 euro has been concluded. The sale of the 2 properties will still be decided, as the municipality has received 14 complete requests for the purchase and renovation of the houses. For more information, you can see the news here.
