1 Euro Houses Project
The 1 Euro Houses project aims to repopulate old abandoned villages in the Italian countryside.
The project is based on the possibility of buying houses for 1 EUR, after which you agree to renovate the house if necessary. It started in Gangi first, but gained popularity in 2019 with Sambuca di Sicilia and Mussomeli.
Once the general public got word of this project, foreign citizens as well as Italians started to look for their dream 1 euro home to renovate. The project expanded and is now present in more than 30 municipalities all around Italy.
The project includes the renovation of small to medium homes, present in the village historic centers. Occasionally we get word of bigger houses and villas available, but these are usually not for sale at 1 euro.
